YaLLa Esports is joining the Saudi Esports Federation and will, moving forward, compete in the Saudi Esports League. The organization will make its debut as an integral part of the federation with its new PUBG Mobile lineup, comprising Sultan “Bommpa” Hzom (Kingdom of Saudi Arabia), Saif “SaiF” Alshammari (Kingdom of Saudi Arabia), Laith “Laith” Mohedat (Jordan), Mohammed “Qahtan” Alqahtani (Kingdom of Saudi Arabia), and finally Mohammed “Volt” Omar (Iraq). The new PUBG Mobile roster has already started playing the closed qualifiers of the Saudi League Season 2 and should take to the main stage soon.
YaLLa Esports has a history of competing in PUBG Mobile. The organization has had a roster for over three years and a track record of victories. Traditionally focusing on Levant countries, YaLLa Esports shifted its focus to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA) in 2021 and won first place at the GET Riyadh Tournament. The team also represented Saudi Arabia during the PUBG Mobile World Invitational and ranked second during the PMPL MEA.
This transition to KSA is part of a bigger expansion plan for the organization. Commenting on this, Wadih Sayah, Head of Esports, said: ‘One can only admire the Kingdom’s efforts and commitment to developing a regional gaming and esports ecosystem. Competing in KSA represented an unmissable opportunity for us, which has been possible with the support of His Highness Prince Faisal bin Bandar Sultan Al-Saud, Vice President of the Global Esports Federation and our local partner Tokyo Games.”
Earlier this month, Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed Bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud unveiled a “National Gaming and Esports Strategy” to make the country a “global hub” for everything gaming. The strategy will be implemented through various projects, from hosting major esports events to producing game titles.
This partnership is cementing YaLLa Esports in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, and is the first milestone in a long-term strategy, focusing on building synergies and developing multiple ventures in the country.
